Look for the code that starts with the word body, after finding it add the code "url('url link of the image you want to use as background') repeat-x" behind the script "background:#e4e4e4". So it becomes like the following.

Important note: each template has a different code and placement, so the code above is not necessarily the same as the blogger template script that you are using.
To see the changes, click on the preview (theme preview) and if it is as expected, the last step you need to do is click the "Save theme" button.
#Note: Images that can be used as backgrounds must be in jpg, gif, png format with a size of up to 300kb. But Admin recommends below 50kb so that the blog loading is not heavy.
