The Press Council once regulated one press company legal entity for only one media. Currently this rule is no longer in use. Press legal entities may now own or control a number of media.
The Press Council allows one legal entity to manage more than one media.
However, the Press Council still restricts the main UKW card holder being only in charge (chief editor) for two media.
"The main journalist can be in charge of the editor or chief editor of a maximum of 2 (two) media," reads article 9 of the Press Council Regulation No. 03/2019 concerning Press Company Standards.
That is if the press company wants to do factual verification. If not, then this Press Council regulation is not binding.
Does the name and address of the editor have to be in one place? One can be in Jakarta and the other in Bandung or other areas when applying for verification.
Deputy Chairman of the Press Council, Hendry Ch Bangun, said that a press company legal entity can accommodate more than one mass media.

Press Legal Entity
Article 9 of Law no. 40/1999 on the Press states that every press company must be an Indonesian legal entity.
The legal entity of the press company does not have to be PT. Article 5 of the Press Council Regulation states that the Press Company is a limited liability company and/or a legal entity formed based on the provisions of the legislation.
The previous regulation also stated that press companies are legal entities with limited liability companies and legal entities formed under the provisions of laws and regulations. (Point 2)
“Every press company must take the form of an Indonesian legal entity” (Article 9 Paragraph (2) of Law No. 40/1999). In accordance with the Press Company Standards, the Indonesian legal entity referred to above is in the form of a Limited Liability Company (PT) or other legal entities formed under the provisions of the legislation. Other legal entities are foundations or cooperatives.”
A legal entity is an organization or association established by an authentic deed.
