Printer is a device used to print to paper media, both monochrome and color. Printers consist of cartridges and mechanical parts that function together to print on paper media. Currently, there are various types of printers, ranging from desktop printers, photo printers, wireless printers and many more.
In this article, we will discuss various problems that occur in printer machines and how to overcome them, all the problems that occur including hardware (mechanical) and software (driver, reset, counter ink).

1. Out Of Paper
The most common first printer problem is out of paper. Out of paper notifications usually appear because the paper stock has run out in the paper tray, the mechanics are not working properly, the paper edges are not detected by the roller sensor (so the printer does not detect the paper that has been placed) and many more. Some problems that occur due to out of paper: The surface of the paper is corrugated, mechanical in the paper roll, the entry of foreign objects in the printer and problems with the sensor.
How to solve out of paper on the printer:
1. Remove all paper from the paper tray;
2. For paper consisting of several sheets, remove it a little at a time;
3. Make sure that there are no paper scraps left as well as foreign objects (such as staple contents) attached;
4. Press the resume button;
5. Make sure the cartridge can slide from right-to-left edge and vice versa without problems and mechanical noise;
6. If the cartridge can move freely, the printer can be reused;
7. For printers that have a rear tray (duplexer), open the rear tray;
8. Pull the stuck paper slowly little-by-little-by-little, making sure no pieces of paper or foreign objects are stuck;
9. Replace the rear tray of the printer.
2. Printer not responding
To solve problems with printers that are not responding, usually caused by the system spool or memory being full or needing to be restarted. Spooling is an Operating System mechanism in queuing printing to the printer, so that the printing process runs according to the queue in the spool system.
To restart the print spooler, follow the steps below:
1. Enter the control panel;
2. Click on Administrative Tools;
3. Click on Services;
4. Right-click on the print Spooler, then click restart, wait until the service restart process is complete;
5. Do the test print again.
3. Printer offline
Printer Offline is an indicator that the printer is not turned on or the printer is on but the data cable is not connected to the PC, or there is indeed a connectivity problem. Offline notifications also appear when the printer is stacked, to overcome this you can do the following:
1. Klik Control Panel, buka Devices and Printer;
2. Right -click Printer, click "See what's printing";
3. Double click the same option: “See what's printing”;
4. Click the "Printer" tab, and uncheck the 'Use Printer Offline' option.
4. Printer Not Responding

5. Paper Jam
This problem often occurs in printers, especially in the mechanical part. After repair, turn off the printer and unplug the power cable for 5-10 minutes. After that, turn the printer back on and make sure the paper jam error message does not reappear.

6. Ink Cartridge Cannot be Recognized
The next problem is that the ink cartridge cannot be recognized, which is a problem with printers that usually occurs because the chip on the cartridge is unreadable, dirty, damaged, or when the position of the cartridge does not match the bracket. In addition, software problems can cause this problem to occur.
The way to check is as follows:
1. Open the printer cover;
2. Remove the cartridge from the bracket, according to the cartridge with the problem. If the problem is the color cartridge, then remove the color cartridge and leave the black cartridge;
3. Close the printer cover again;
4. Turn off the printer and unplug the printer power cable from the socket / UPS;
5. Wait Approx. 10 minutes;
6. Plug the printer power cable back into the socket / UPS;
7. Turn on the printer and open the printer cover;
8. Wait until the position of the printer bracket stops in the middle;
9. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the socket / UPS;
10. Install the cartridge that was removed;
11. Plug the power cable into the socket / UPS;
12. Turn the printer back on;
13. Wait until the printer is ready, after it is ready do a nozzle check or print a test page on the printer.
7. The Following Ink Has Run Out
The problem with the following ink has run out is a problem that occurs because the ink has reached the limit, if after checking, there is no problem with the ink capacity, then the next check step is as follows:
1. Press and hold the Resume button until the Power/ON button flashes, then release the Resume button;
2. After that, the resume LED will flash, and the power LED will light up, open the printer cover;
3. Wait for the cartridge to shift to the center;
4. Remove the cartridge from the bracket, check whether the pins on the cartridge (the position is at the bottom of the cartridge, in the form of a small PCB path) are dirty or have spilled ink. Clean with a soft cloth, by sticking only, avoid cleaning by rubbing the cloth against the pin because it can damage the pin;
5. After cleaning, reinstall the cartridge;
6. Close the printer cover, when the power LED is no longer flashing, restart the printer, and wait until the printer is in standby;
7. If there are no problems, the printer should be able to be used to print again.
8. Wireless printer is slow to print
Problems with slow wireless printers often occur because the stability of the connection is disturbed due to being blocked by walls or media which makes data transmission hampered. For this problem, you can check by making sure the distance between the printer and the router is close, or entering the coverage area, where the printer's reach is still covered by the router you are using.
9. Printouts are imperfect, intermittent, or less solid kurang
Printers, like any other device, may experience performance degradation in the form of blurry, dotted, streaked, or less solid color composition. One of the problems that cause this is because the printer is rarely used. To overcome this problem, the nozzle check can be carried out as follows:
1. Go to control panel, then select Devices and Printers;
2. Right-click on the printer in use, select Printing Preferences.
3. Select the Maintenance tab > Click on the Nozzle Check button
4. In the Nozzle Check window, select Print To perform a nozzle test print.
5. After the nozzle check printing process is complete, wait about 5-10 minutes. Then identify which part (black / color) is not good. Do the nozzle check again on that section.
